
Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce
The Client:
With a mission to promote commercial growth and provide
a unifying voice for the business community in Omaha and
surrounding areas, the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce
serves more than 3,500 member businesses. Approximately
two-thirds of the metropolitan workforce is represented
through Chamber membership, and a majority of Chamber members
are businesses with 10 or fewer employees.
The Challenge:
- Centralize computer management
- Secure computer systems and data
- Establish Internet mail and web services
With the reduction of internal IT staff, the client was
seeking a third party to oversee its hosted server management
that included web site development and hosting, Internet
mail, member database hosting, Intranet development, and
backup capabilities. The Chamber also required firewall
security from viruses, spam and Internet mail breaches
that were crippling its system and that could not be implemented
internally.

- Exchange server hosting
Jelecos provided comprehensive managed hosting services,
including centralizing server assets, deploying point to
point communications, configuration of custom firewall
rule sets, and developing and hosting the Chamber’s
web site, Internet and Intranet services. Jelecos
also manages and secures a dedicated exchange server environment
at its Data Center.

one of the great things about Jelecos is they have been
very patient with us in terms of providing whatever we
need from a contract services standpoint,” says Audra
Schawang, the Chamber’s Vice President of Administration
and Finance.

With its server assets hosted and managed at Jelecos’ Data
Center, the client has an integrated, “one-stop” solution
for its website and network hosting needs. The Chamber
staff also reports a dramatic reduction in the amount of
spam and virus-laden material received, and Jelecos has
worked with the client to expand its capabilities to include
online registration for events and transition from a hard-copy
newsletter to electronic version broadcast to members.
